CAD/CAM Engineer – Siemens NX

Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:00am–4:00pm | Friday, 8:00am–1:00pm

Salary – 50K

About the Role

An established UK engineering business is seeking an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer to support the delivery of complex and precision-machined components.

The role will manage engineering projects from customer order through to manufacture, providing technical support across Engineering, Production and Quality. The successful candidate will have strong experience with Siemens NX CAD/CAM and Siemens Sinumerik CNC controls.

Key Responsibilities of a CAD CAM Engineer

Manage engineering projects from purchase order through to completion.
Interpret customer drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
Develop manufacturing strategies for complex components.
Create and modify 3D models using Siemens NX.
Produce efficient CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM.
Program and support 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machining, including milling and turning.
Optimise cutting strategies, tooling, feeds, speeds and machining cycles.
Simulate machining operations and support programme prove-outs.
Program and edit Siemens Sinumerik/ShopMill/ShopTurn controls at the machine.
Produce setup sheets and manufacturing documentation.
Support fixture, tooling and work-holding requirements.
Troubleshoot programming and manufacturing issues.
Work closely with Production and Quality to resolve technical issues and non-conformances.
Identify opportunities to reduce machining and prove-out times.
Maintain accurate engineering records and comply with relevant quality and safety procedures.
Essential Requirements of a CAD CAM Engineer

Extensive experience with Siemens NX CAD/CAM.
Strong working knowledge of Siemens Sinumerik CNC controls.
Proven CNC programming experience across milling and turning.
Experience with 3, 4 and 5-axis machining.
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
Strong knowledge of tooling, cutting data and machining strategies.
Good understanding of manufacturing processes.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple engineering projects effectively.
Desirable Experience of a CAD CAM Engineer 

Heavy engineering or precision machining background.
Experience with large or complex components/rotating equipment.
Knowledge of Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls.
Fixture and tooling design.
Reverse engineering.
CMM inspection processes.
ERP/MRP systems.
