Buyer / Procurement Coordinator
Salary Guide: £27,000 - £30,000 a year - Permanent, Full-time
Location: Haverhill, Suffolk
Monday to Friday - 8.00am to 5.00pm.
A prominent custom joinery and sub-contractor, specialising in high-profile construction ventures in London and the surrounding region, is offering an outstanding opportunity for a Buyer/Procurement Coordinator to join their team on a permanent basis. The role will be based at their offices in Haverhill.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating the procurement process, sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet project requirements. The Buyer / Procurement Coordinator will play a crucial role in maintaining efficient supply chain operations and supporting the successful completion of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and services in accordance with project requirements and budget constraints
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate favourable terms and pricing
Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to understand material requirements and time-lines
Create purchase orders, track deliveries, and ensure timely receipt of materials
Monitor inventory levels and manage stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking
Evaluate supplier performance and make recommendations for improvement
Collaborate with the finance department to ensure timely processing of invoices and payments
Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and new products to make informed purchasing decisions
Assist in the development of procurement strategies and policies to optimise efficiency and cost savings
Requirements:
Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in the construction industry
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Excellent organisational and time management abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software
Knowledge of procuring construction materials such as glass, ironmongery, components, doors, seals, packers, adhesives, timber, fabric panels, MFC panels, plant, including arranging hire of equipment as required
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
