Jackson Hogg Procurement division are pleased to be exclusively partnered with a manufacturing organisation in Newton Aycliffe on the appointment of a Buyer to join their team on a full-time and permanent basis.

Salary on offer is £36-38k per annum depending on experience.

This role will ensure supply chain activities support operational needs, maintain optimal stock levels and contribute to overall business efficiency through effective supplier management and purchasing practices. This role plays a key part in building strong supplier relationships, driving continuous improvement initiatives and delivering commercial value to the organisation.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30 with an early Friday finish.

This is an on-site based role.

The Role:

* Negotiate contractual terms and conditions with suppliers.

* Review and determine safety stock levels for indirect goods within allocated categories

* Manage phase in/phase out process for new products and revisions

* Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives through PPV reporting, spend analysis, supplier selection, and supplier consolidation.

* Take Ownership of Direct Vendor relationship management and open communication channels

* Monitor and report on supplier performance, implementing improvement plans where required.

* Manage procurement activities for CAPEX projects

* Deputise for the Purchasing Manager as required

* Direct procurement of components required for production

* Indirect procurement of goods and services as required by the business

* Managing RFQ process, negotiating optimum price, quantities and lead times

* Vendor selection and consolidation of current vendors

* Supplier relationship management

* Ensure the accuracy of data within the Priority ERP system

* Ensure vendor records, approvals and certifications are maintained and up to date.

* Expedite goods and services providing stakeholder feedback

* Prepare commercial invoices and shipping documentation for international shipments

* Investigate and resolve invoice queries in a timely manner

* Monitor and report on Purchase Price Variance (PPV).

* Prepare reports by collecting, analysing and summarising information and trends

The Person/Specification:

* Experience working within a manufacturing environment

* Experience managing high‑volume purchasing activities

* Demonstrable experience working in a procurement or purchasing role

* Experience conducting spend analysis to evaluate purchasing trends, identify cost saving opportunities and support strategic sourcing decisions

* Experience in supporting cross-functional project teams to deliver CAPEX projects on time and within budget

* Experience procuring metal or machined components.

* CIPS Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience)
