Description:

Our East Yorkshire client is currently looking for a Buyer to join their team.

They are a major player in the Offsite Construction sector with a well established and respected  reputation, working UK wide on some of the biggest projects in the country.

Up to £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)
40 hours per week

Purpose:

•To buy materials, plant and other items as required, in line with business requirements at best total cost, ensuring required dates are met and required quality and service is achieved.

•To control costs, minimising the impact of inflation and reducing costs through negotiation, category reviews and the identification of other cost reduction opportunities.

•To ensure our supply chain is capable of supporting business requirements, managing supplier relationships, identifying risks and putting in place contingencies/improvements as necessary.

Principle Accountabilities:

•Ensure materials are bought on time and at or below target cost for both factory and site.

•Obtain and negotiate prices, placing purchase orders in line with business requirements, making sourcing decisions based on both cost and non-cost considerations.

•Support site requirements, inc. the hire of plant/skips and supply of additional materials, ensuring correct processes are followed and costs allocated correctly.

•Ensure key dates are met, identifying critical dates for decisions/information, influencing lead times and flagging potential issues.

•Continually look for opportunities to drive down procurement spend and deliver cost savings through category management, project buying and improving procurement methods.

•Review, analyse and benchmark category spends, identifying supply options, benchmarking and negotiating pricing agreements and proposing sourcing strategies.

•Understand market cost drivers and cost pressures.

•Challenge cost increases and overspends, negotiating and minimising the impact to the business.

•Track actual v estimated/target costs, providing accurate reports explaining any savings/overspends.

•Source materials/suppliers as required, ensuring any new suppliers are assessed, risks identified and an informed decision made before onboarding.

•Maintain accurate procurement records, ensuring systems are updated and price lists and other info is kept up to date.

•Develop good relationships with internal customers, stakeholders and suppliers.

•Resolve supply issues, implementing improvement plans and developing alternatives if necessary.

•Drive down and optimise stock levels without incurring undue risk, negotiating supplier stock holding and call-off agreements where beneficial.

•Promote ESG improvements within the supply chain.

•Ensure invoice queries are resolved in a timely manner.

Experience, Qualifications & Training:

•5 years+ procurement experience preferred (2 years minimum).

•Experience within the modular building or construction industry preferred.

•Good negotiation skills.

•Working towards, or willing to work towards, CIPS qualifications.

•Good standard of education and excellent numeracy skills.

•Extremely well organised, adaptable and experienced working in a fast-paced environment.

•Experience of procurement IT systems and competent on Microsoft Excel.
