Business Systems Engineer (Senior Full-Stack / AI-First)
Location: Hybrid (UK-based), with regular time in Edinburgh
Type: Permanent, Full-Time
A growing international technology-driven business is seeking a Business Systems Engineer to help scale and optimise the systems that underpin its commercial and operational processes.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on solving business problems through software, automation, integrations and process improvement. You'll work closely with end users across sales, operations, warehousing and fulfilment to design, build and support reliable solutions that deliver measurable business impact.
What You'll Be Doing
Designing and delivering software solutions from discovery through to production.
Building and improving internal business systems, APIs and integrations.
Automating workflows and eliminating manual processes.
Supporting data quality, reporting and operational visibility.
Investigating and resolving production issues.
Contributing to AI-assisted business workflows and engineering practices.
Improving testing, deployment pipelines, monitoring and documentation.

What We're Looking For
Strong experience in either PHP/Laravel or TypeScript/Node.js.
Proven ownership of production software and business-critical systems.
Experience building APIs, integrations and backend systems.
Strong understanding of relational databases and data modelling.
Experience with automated testing and modern deployment practices.
Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders and improve underlying business processes.
Comfortable leveraging AI tools while maintaining engineering quality, security and accountability.Experience within logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, ERP, CRM or operational systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
