Description:

Business Development Manager – Process Plant & Equipment

Location: Home-based
Territory: England, Scotland and Wales
Salary: £45,000 basic salary
Package: Uncapped commission and company car
Job type: Permanent, full-time

The Opportunity

Are you a proven Business Development Manager, Sales Engineer or Sales Manager who enjoys opening doors, developing new customers and closing profitable sales?

This is a home-based sales role with an established UK manufacturer of process plant, equipment and ancillary products. You will cover England, Scotland and Wales, selling technical and value-added solutions into sectors including:

* Food and beverage manufacturing

* Pharmaceutical manufacturing

* Chemical processing

* Process manufacturing

* Water and wastewater

These industries continue to see significant investment in new equipment, plant upgrades, production capacity and operational efficiency. The company is well placed to take advantage of that investment and is looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to lead new business growth.

You will ideally be based in the Midlands, giving you a central location from which to cover the UK territory. Applications will also be considered from experienced sales professionals based just outside the region.

What You Will Be Doing

This is a genuine business development role.

The company is looking for a confident “hunter” who is comfortable prospecting, making cold calls, arranging meetings and converting opportunities into orders.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Identifying and developing new business opportunities across England, Scotland and Wales

* Developing and nurturing existing accounts

* Building relationships with engineering, procurement, operations and senior management teams

* Selling new process and bulk storage equipment, plant systems and ancillary products

* Growing aftermarket sales with both new and existing customers

* Understanding customers’ technical and commercial requirements

* Developing value-added solutions rather than competing solely on price

* Managing opportunities from initial enquiry through to order

* Spending a minimum of 50% of your time visiting customers and prospects

* Attending trade shows, exhibitions and relevant industry events

* Maintaining an accurate sales pipeline and providing regular forecasts

You will receive full technical support from the company’s head office team, including help with solution development and quotation preparation. This allows you to concentrate on building relationships, developing opportunities and closing sales.

What We Are Looking For

You should be an experienced technical salesperson or Business Development Manager with a strong record of winning new business.

You will need:

* Proven experience in business development, technical sales or capital equipment sales

* Strong prospecting, cold calling and lead-generation skills

* The confidence and persistence to approach new customers

* A track record of progressing opportunities and closing sales

* Experience selling into food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, process manufacturing or water-sector customers

* The ability to understand technical applications and communicate the commercial value of a solution

* A consultative sales approach focused on solving customer problems

* Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills

* The willingness to travel regularly throughout England, Scotland and Wales

Experience selling process equipment, bulk storage solutions, process plant, machinery, engineered systems, ancillary equipment or aftermarket services would be particularly relevant.

Why Consider This Business Development Manager Role?

You will be joining a manufacturer operating across several industries with strong levels of planned investment.

The opportunity includes:

* A basic salary of £45,000 + Uncapped Commission + Company Car

* A home-based role

* A large sales territory covering England, Scotland and Wales

* The freedom to develop new markets and customer relationships

The uncapped commission structure is designed to reward someone who can create opportunities and turn them into profitable sales.

Who Would This Role Suit?

This position could suit someone currently working as a Business Development Manager; Technical Sales Manager; Regional Sales Manager; Area Sales Manager, or a Sales Engineer

You may currently sell process equipment, bulk-material handling equipment, engineered systems, pumps, tanks, vessels, pipework, water-treatment equipment, or related technical products.

Location and Travel

This is a home-based position covering customers throughout England, Scotland and Wales. A Midlands location would provide the most central base for the territory, although strong candidates living just outside the region will also be considered.

You should expect to spend at least 50% of your working time in the field, meeting customers, visiting sites and developing new business.
