Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing West Sussex Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of £280 per day which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Business Development Manager - Energy Services this role will be: PO19 1RG (Hybrid)

The right candidate will:

* As Business Development Manager, you will help identify, grow and manage the multi-million-pound pipeline of energy projects required to ensure we meet our energy, carbon and sustainability objectives.

* As the ‘face’ of Energy Services, you will develop and maintain productive partnerships internally and with other organisations across the county, understanding their energy and carbon ambitions and developing our offer to help achieve them.

* Innovation will be key to delivering this. Knowing your energy projects are working properly is also critical when making the case for future developments, so you’ll get visibility of the performance of our own energy assets, helping you to ensure their productivity matches that described in the business cases.

* You will represent Energy Services and the County Council at a regional and national level, ensuring our pipeline of projects and existing energy assets are future proofed against policy, regulatory and financial risk.

We require the following:

* Experience of identifying Solar PV projects.

* Experience of the early stages of project development (ideally RIBA stages 0 – 4 but, specifically, experience of managing financial and legal risk through development of feasibility studies)

* Experience working in a Local Authority environment (or directly to a Local Authority customer) Ability to grow and develop our energy portfolio and pipeline by fostering and developing relationships with stakeholders and partners. You will work to improve our financial standing by understanding the energy market and through careful strategic planning of opportunities.

* Ability to research, analyse and interpret energy and carbon information to make effective and robust judgements and make articulate recommendations, taking account of the broader impacts on the business / client.

* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence the actions of others and communicate information that may be complex and contentious.

* Ability to think laterally and to adapt to changing situations in a measured and flexible manner in order to adapt the advice and guidance provided to suit any change in circumstance whether legislative, structural, partnership related etc.

* A degree or postgraduate qualification in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Energy Management, Business Management or a related discipline or comparable experience in industry.

* Knowledge of financial and budget management is also important.

* Advanced theoretical or organisational knowledge of systems, procedures and policies associated with providing a professional lead on complex energy issues which often have significant business or organisational implications.

* Sound and accurate IT knowledge, including Word and Excel (or equivalent packages) in order to carry out research, analyse documents and present data. Knowledge of specific packages for the development and management of energy data, project data and client data.

* Knowledge of Local Government and its responsibilities for sustainability, energy, economy or business studies.
