Jonathan Lee Recruitment is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support an existing privately owned business develop their chemical and relating capital equipment sales across a range of engineering and manufacturing sectors.  The role comes with an attractive salary, car and bonus.

Based on an existing capability for the manufacture and supply of surface treatment capital equipment from their site in Wolverhampton, this role will support the development of new business in the UK for bulk chemical solutions as well as offering clients a full chemical management and usage solution.

As a Business Development Manager, you will report to the Managing Director and work alongside the senior management team. You will lead the development of new sales through a solution sales approach for the supply of approved and licensed chemicals. Working closely with their international suppliers, this role is focused on new sales growth.

Role responsibilities include:

Lead the development of new sales through a solution sales approach for the supply of approved and licensed chemicals.
Work alongside the existing sales activity to identify and capture new sales with existing customers – providing a core level of expertise.
Support the senior management team to develop their chemical solutions capability and provide specialist knowledge.
Prepare for and run company visits, shows and exhibitions. Organise and lead proposal writing, manage individual pursuits and budgets.
Coordinate prospective and existing customer visits (inbound and outbound) with senior management and colleagues.
Develop marketplace information, customer and competitor intelligence to inform the company on legislative and application requirements including product development and business development strategy.
Be informed and support the business with all aspects of REACH and other legislation.
Communicate the ‘voice of customer’ to the leadership team and manage customer expectations.
Lead the development of bid and proposal, develop the price to win, provide inputs to the cost/price estimates and lead negotiations. Draft, review, negotiate and agree agreements, MoU’s, contracts and other legal documents.
To support this role, you should ideally have:

A detailed working awareness of chemical sales to core engineering and manufacturing markets. Where possible, knowledge of the aerospace and defence sectors would be an advantage.
Have a proven capability in solution sales working across the UK in principle.
Be able to develop and manage a successful sales pipeline.
Be able to engage at all levels of an organisation and provide succinct and specialists knowledge to support strategic market development.
Be experience with REACH and chemical handling / supply / management in support of company and customer success.
Be suitable qualified in Business, Engineering, Chemical Science or equivalent.
Have an existing network of relevant customer contacts and market knowledge.
Be willing and able to undertake travel in support of business growth – this is an externally focused position.
