Business Development Manager - Livingston, UK

Job Responsibilities

Identify, develop, and manage new business opportunities to drive revenue growth.
Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients through a consultative approach.
Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with company targets and market opportunities.
Conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitor activity, and emerging trends.
Manage the full sales cycle, from initial outreach and qualification through to proposal and close.
Prepare and present sales proposals, ensuring solutions are tailored to customer requirements.
Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery of agreed solutions and customer outcomes.
Track sales activity, pipeline performance, and forecast accuracy, reporting progress as required.
Attend meetings, networking events, and industry gatherings to strengthen brand presence.
Contribute to continuous improvement of sales processes and lead generation activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience in business development or sales roles, ideally within a B2B environment.
Experienced selling within national or large client links FM / Telecoms / Power / Drainage / Water / EV
Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to understand customer challenges and propose solutions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence in presenting to decision-makers.
Demonstrable ability to build and manage a sales pipeline, including accurate forecasting.
Strong negotiation skills, with a track record of closing deals and managing commercial discussions.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Competent in CRM systems and sales reporting to maintain pipeline visibility and performance tracking.
Strong organisational skills, including attention to detail when preparing proposals and documentation.
Relevant qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Sales training or certification (for example, a recognised sales qualification) is desirable.
Technical aptitude to quickly understand products/services and translate them into customer value.
