Description:

My client is an independent supplier of hydraulic components and solutions, established in the mid 90’s. They supply customers across the UK and internationally, supporting sectors including mobile hydraulics, industrial, agriculture, marine, energy, oil & gas and manufacturing.

They continue to work with leading manufacturers of hydraulic equipment including pumps, motors, filters, valves and cylinders.

Due to an extensive period of growth, they are looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to develop new business, grow existing accounts and expand our presence across the UK.

Business Development Manager

Salary - £35,000 with realistic OTE of £55,000, 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, car, phone, laptop and company pension.

Preston with UK travel.

The Role

This is a proactive, field-based business development role focused on winning new customers, developing existing accounts and identifying opportunities.

You will be responsible for identifying prospects, building relationships with decisionmakers, arranging customer visits and converting opportunities into profitable sales.

This is not simply an account-management role – I am looking for someone who enjoys finding opportunities and creating new business.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Identify and develop new customers across target UK markets
Prospect via telephone, email, LinkedIn, networking and industry events
Arrange and conduct customer and prospect visits throughout the UK
Understand customers' hydraulic requirements and identify suitable solutions
Reactivate dormant and declining customer accounts
Develop existing accounts and increase share of customer spend
Identify competitor products and opportunities.
Introduce additional product ranges to existing and new customers
Work with suppliers on joint sales campaigns, customer visits and product launches
Attend exhibitions, trade shows and networking events
Maintain an accurate CRM and active sales pipeline
Track opportunities, values, products, competitors and next actions
Work closely with the internal sales team to convert opportunities into orders
Develop long-term relationships with customers .
Manage commercial opportunities with a focus on profitable growth, margin and pricing
What I am Looking For

I am looking for a commercially minded Business Development Manager / Sales professional who is/has:

Proactive and confident in generating new business
Strong engineering knowledge, ideally of the hydraulic sector.
An good understanding of pumps, motors, filters, valves and cylinders.
Comfortable with cold calling and prospecting for new business and reactivating dormant clients.
Confident conducting face-to-face customer meetings
Strong at building long-term customer relationships
Commercially aware and focused on profitable growth
Organised with good CRM and pipeline management skills
Comfortable selling technical products or solutions.
Able to understand customer requirements and identify opportunities
Self-motivated and capable of managing a UK-wide territory
Confident working with customers, suppliers and internal sales teams
Hydraulics industry experience would be advantageous.
