Description:

Business Development Manager – Aggregates & Construction Materials
Location: Midlands or South East based, with travel across target regions
Salary: £60,000 + performance bonus + benefits

Know the construction market? Have the contacts and commercial drive to open new doors?

We’re recruiting a Business Development Manager for an established aggregates business with ambitious plans to expand beyond its Southwest core market.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of new business growth across the Midlands and South East, building relationships with major contractors and securing substantial supply contracts for construction and infrastructure projects.

You’ll bring a strong understanding of aggregates or heavy construction materials, an established network and the ability to turn an initial conversation into a profitable, long-term agreement.

The opportunity

You’ll identify where the business can compete, connect with the people making purchasing decisions and develop a pipeline of projects that deliver meaningful volume growth.

Working closely with sales and transport colleagues, you’ll ensure that every opportunity makes commercial sense—from material requirements and delivery distances through to pricing and margin.

Your responsibilities will include:

Winning new business with main contractors, civil engineering businesses, housebuilders, groundworks contractors and local authorities.
Building relationships with buyers, engineers and specifiers early in the project planning and tender process.
Securing supply agreements and gaining access to relevant purchasing frameworks.
Working with transport teams to develop competitive, profitable delivered pricing.
Understanding regional competitors, supply capacity and market opportunities.
Developing a strong pipeline of major construction and infrastructure projects.
Handing established contracts over to the regional sales team while maintaining a smooth customer experience.
What we’re looking for

You may currently be a Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Key Account Manager or Commercial Manager ready for a role with greater scope.

You’ll need:

A proven record of winning new business within aggregates, quarrying, concrete or heavy construction materials.
Established contractor and construction industry contacts in the Midlands and/or South East.
Experience negotiating substantial supply contracts and building lasting commercial relationships.
A practical understanding of haulage costs, delivery distances and their impact on profitability.
The confidence to work independently, develop a territory and engage with senior decision-makers.
Willingness to travel across your target regions.
Experience securing framework agreements or influencing material specifications at the pre-tender stage would be particularly valuable.

Why consider this role?

This is a new position with a clear purpose: helping an established business enter new markets. You’ll have the opportunity to shape your approach, build its regional presence and make a visible contribution to its growth.

If you understand the materials, know the market and enjoy winning business, we’d like to hear from you. Apply with your CV for a confidential conversation
