Business Development Account Manager (fixed term)

Salary: £35,850 (London) / £31,994 - £35,000 (National) per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract: Fixed term until May 2025

Location: London/Bristol - flexible working arrangements can be agreed with the line manager.            

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the National Housing Federation (NHF) for an interim Business Development Account Manager. We are looking for someone who can effectively manage, deliver, grow and promote our existing commercial partnerships, aimed at providing benefits and value for money for NHF housing association members.  

Our Business Development team generates commercial income through partnerships with commercial companies who want to access our members. The team ensure that companies we partner with deliver services and products that are relevant to our members’ business needs, and that they share our ethos. The Business Development team is also responsible for negotiating deals with companies to provide support and services to members free of charge as a benefit of the NHF membership.

The NHF is the voice of housing associations in England. We are the trade body to almost 600 housing associations, who have grown from philanthropic roots to provide 2.6 million homes to around 6 million people. You can find further information about the NHF on our website.

Key elements of the role:

- Managing multiple partnerships and budgets.
- Managing and growing a Sector Supplier scheme and working with the Head of Business Development to manage other key partnerships.
- Liaising with the Marketing Team to create impactful marketing plans for all partners, delivering all plans, regularly reviewing progress, and reporting on their success.
- Managing day-to-day relationships with external organisations including commercial partners, prospects, and suppliers.

The successful candidate:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

- Experience of account management, delivering excellent customer service and building a rapport with customers and potential customers.
- A good track record of delivering against sales or business development targets, with strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills to meet challenging and competing priorities.
- Ability to monitor, manage and report on budgets.
- Good decision-making skills and ability to explain to others using evidence and information in a balanced way.
- Can establish the needs of members and respond to these positively.
