Description:

Business Analyst – Public Sector Software

Cardiff (Hybrid) | Fixed term to March 2027, with a view to permanent | £55-65k pro-rata

Enjoy variety, and want your work to make a difference to public services?

We're working excluively with a well-established, fast-growing Cardiff software consultancy. They win public sector work through tenders and frameworks, then design and build custom software for councils, colleges, universities and other public bodies.

They need a Business Analyst to get under the skin of what their clients need and turn it into clear requirements their engineers can build from. It’s fast paced and varied, and you could be working across several projects and clients at once.

What you’ll be doing

* Running discovery and requirements workshops with public sector clients

* Mapping current processes and finding better ways of doing things

* Writing user stories, acceptance criteria and prioritised backlogs

* Working closely with the .NET engineers and designers

* Helping shape bids and tenders with your understanding of client requirements

* Supporting testing and keeping accessibility, data protection and security front of mind

What you’ll need

* Public sector experience. This is a must, ideally working with local government, education, the NHS or central government

* Solid Business Analyst experience in a digital or software delivery setting

* Strong requirements gathering, process mapping and Agile backlog skills

* Confidence running workshops and talking to people at every level

* Enough technical know-how to work comfortably with developers (APIs, integrations, data)

* The ability to juggle more than one project in a fast-moving environment

Nice to have: some AI knowledge or experience, as it’s coming up more and more with clients. Bid or tender experience would also help.

Why it’s worth a look

* Plenty of variety across different public sector clients and projects

* Fixed term until March 2027, with the clear aim of going permanent in April

* Hybrid working from a modern office in north Cardiff

* 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, pension, life insurance and 24/7 GP access

* A friendly, curious team where you work directly with clients

If this sounds like you, I’d love to have a chat. Send your CV across or drop me a message for a confidential conversation.
