Build Manager

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Build Manager to oversee the construction element of our home improvement projects, predominantly conservatories, single-storey extensions and associated building works.

This is a hands-on role covering site management, technical surveying, quality control, compliance and subcontractor management, ensuring projects are completed safely, correctly and to the required standard.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and monitor construction works from commencement through to completion.

*

Carry out site inspections to monitor progress, workmanship, Health & Safety and compliance.

*

Conduct additional inspections on complex, high-value and new-build-team projects.

*

Ensure completed works meet required quality standards before installation progresses.

*

Manage and support a network of subcontract build teams.

*

Set and maintain clear workmanship, quality and performance standards.

*

Address subcontractor performance, quality and compliance issues.

*

Review surveys, drawings and proposed designs to identify potential issues before work begins.

*

Provide practical construction solutions that meet customer, technical and regulatory requirements.

*

Ensure works comply with Planning requirements, Planning conditions and Building Regulations.

*

Liaise with Building Control and other relevant parties when required.

*

Provide practical solutions to problems arising during live projects.

*

Make informed decisions on site to keep projects progressing and minimise unnecessary costs.

*

Escalate significant technical, quality or cost issues appropriately.

*

Assist with identifying, interviewing and assessing potential subcontract build teams.

*

Support the onboarding and development of new build teams.

*

Monitor new teams during their initial projects and provide feedback and guidance.

*

Provide technical construction advice to surveyors, installers, office teams and subcontractors.

*

Act as a technical point of contact for building and construction queries.

*

Support the resolution of technical issues before and during projects.

Candidate Requirements

*

Strong practical construction knowledge and hands-on site experience.

*

Experience with conservatories, single-storey extensions and domestic building projects.

*

Experience managing builders and subcontract construction teams.

*

Technical surveying and site inspection experience.

*

Good understanding of Planning, Building Regulations, Health & Safety and CDM.

*

Ability to read and assess technical drawings and construction details.

*

Excellent communication and people-management skills.

*

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

*

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

The role would suit someone from a construction management, technical surveying, site management, conservatory or extension background who is comfortable working on site and dealing directly with customers, subcontractors and internal teams
