Building Surveyor
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Building Surveyor to join our Repairs and Maintenance Department.
Candidates should have experience of working in a social housing Repairs & Maintenance environment.
Candidates must be proficient in damp and condensation identification, general property repair surveys, data collection, checking and collation of survey detail, undertaking structural inspections and providing work packages.
Experience of Oracle ordering, DRS and TASK systems would be desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
Must hold current driving license and have access to own vehicle. Mileage will be paid.
As an Area Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in assessing and evaluating the condition of properties, conducting surveys, and identifying necessary repairs and maintenance work.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting comprehensive property surveys and inspections within designated areas.
- Assessing the condition of buildings, identifying defects, and recommending appropriate repair and maintenance work.
- Collaborating with the Repairs and Maintenance team to develop cost estimates and project plans for identified works.
- Providing accurate and detailed reports on survey findings, including documentation of defects, recommended remedial actions, and estimated costs.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, health and safety guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders, contractors, and clients to coordinate survey activities and ensure timely completion of projects.
Requirements:
- Valid driving license and access to a vehicle for travel between properties and sites.
- Asbestos awareness trained, with a thorough understanding of asbestos-related risks and precautions.
- Relevant trade background (e.g., construction, building maintenance) with a solid understanding of building structures, materials, and defects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to accurately assess and evaluate property conditions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to various stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
