Description:

Goodman Masson is currently working with a social housing organisation in London to recruit for an interim Building Surveyor.

Rate - £250 a day INSIDE IR35 umbrella

The Role

This is a broad surveying position with responsibility for managing a range of property-related activities across a residential housing portfolio. You'll be involved in everything from diagnosing building defects and specifying repairs through to managing contractors and ensuring works are completed safely, on time and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing responsive repairs, void refurbishments and planned maintenance works.
Undertaking pre and post inspections to monitor quality and contractor performance.
Producing specifications, schedules of work and issuing works orders.
Managing contractor performance, quality, cost and programme delivery.
Supporting the management of complex repairs and housing disrepair cases.
Carrying out property inspections including voids, mutual exchanges and major repair projects.
Ensuring compliance with relevant housing and building safety legislation.
Working collaboratively with residents, contractors and internal teams to deliver excellent customer outcomes.
Monitoring expenditure and ensuring maintenance budgets deliver best value.
Investigating property defects and recommending appropriate remedial solutions.
Responding professionally to customer enquiries, complaints and technical queries.
About You

We're looking for an experienced property professional who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent customer service skills.

You'll ideally have:

Experience working within social housing, local government or residential property maintenance.
A qualification in Building Surveying, Construction or a related discipline (HNC/HND or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of building construction, maintenance and property defects.
Experience managing contractors and delivering repairs, planned works and void programmes.
A good understanding of statutory compliance and health & safety requirements within residential property.
Knowledge of procurement and contract management principles.
Experience preparing specifications and inspecting completed works.
Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
A customer-focused approach and the confidence to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
A full UK driving licence and access to transport for business travel.
