Big Consultancy Projects. Small Consultancy Freedom.

We’re recruiting a Chartered Building Surveyor to join a highly regarded construction consultancy in Plymouth. This is a business that punches comfortably above its weight.

They’ve built an excellent reputation across the South West through technical expertise, strong project delivery and long-standing client relationships, securing the type and scale of work you’d often associate with considerably larger national consultancies.

The difference? You won’t disappear into a huge corporate machine. You’ll have direct client exposure, genuine ownership of your projects and the freedom to manage your workload, backed by an experienced and supportive team.

The Projects There’s plenty of variety.

Projects typically range from £250,000 to £2 million, covering:

Commercial refurbishment
Mixed-use developments
Healthcare
Education
Public sector schemes With a healthy pipeline of repeat business and new commissions, you’ll be joining at a busy and exciting point in the consultancy’s growth.

The Role

As Building Surveyor, you’ll deliver a blend of professional Building Surveying and project-led work, taking responsibility for schemes from initial brief through to completion.

You’ll manage your own portfolio, develop relationships with clients and work alongside an established team while being trusted to get on with the job.

Expect a role covering:

Professional Building Surveying services
Refurbishment and alteration projects
Contract administration
Project management
Surveys and technical reporting
Client liaison and consultancy
Project delivery from inception through to completion There’s plenty of responsibility from day one, but equally plenty of support when you need it.

About You

A degree in Building Surveying
MRICS Chartered status
At least two years’ post-chartership experience
Experience within a consultancy environment
Strong project management capability
Confidence dealing directly with clients
Experience delivering refurbishment and alteration projects
The ability to commute to Plymouth or relocate to the area You’ll suit this business if you enjoy having ownership of your work, direct relationships with clients and the freedom to make things happen without layers of corporate bureaucracy.

What’s In It For You?
£50,000 - £55,000 salary plus benefits
Excellent variety of projects and sectors
Strong and secure pipeline of work
Genuine autonomy and responsibility
Clear opportunities for career progression
Continued professional development
Supportive and experienced team
Regular company social events
The opportunity to make a visible impact within a growing consultancy Interested?

If you’re a Chartered Building Surveyor looking for interesting projects, genuine responsibility and the freedom of a smaller consultancy without sacrificing the quality of the work, this deserves a conversation.
