About the Company

Our client is an established property and construction consultancy with a growing Building Surveying team and a strong portfolio of work. Currently looking to appoint an ambitious Building Surveyor to join their Manchester team. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced surveyors and senior colleagues, gain valuable exposure to a varied client portfolio and develop towards Chartered status within a supportive professional environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Building Surveyor with 1+ years' experience who is looking to progress their career, broaden their technical experience and work towards becoming RICS Chartered.

The Role

As a Building Surveyor, you will be involved across a broad range of professional building surveying instructions, working directly with clients and senior colleagues to deliver high-quality technical and commercial advice.

You will have the opportunity to gain experience across condition surveys, defect diagnosis, dilapidations, party wall matters and feasibility studies, alongside the preparation of specifications, tender documentation and contract administration.

The role provides genuine client exposure from an early stage, with responsibility for developing client briefs, coordinating with stakeholders and supporting projects through to successful completion.

Working within an established and growing team, you will be given the support and development required to progress towards RICS Chartership, while taking on increasing responsibility as your experience develops.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering a broad range of professional building surveying services
Undertaking condition surveys and building inspections
Investigating defects and providing clear technical recommendations
Preparing dilapidations reports and schedules
Supporting party wall matters and related instructions
Assisting with feasibility studies and pre-project advice
Developing detailed client briefs in conjunction with stakeholders and senior colleagues
Preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
Supporting the design and development of refurbishment projects
Administering building contracts, primarily JCT
Monitoring project progress, quality and costs
Acting as a key point of contact for clients
Building strong and lasting client relationships
Liaising with contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders
Managing multiple instructions and deadlines effectively
Working closely with senior colleagues to deliver successful project outcomes
Developing your technical and professional experience towards RICS Chartership

The Ideal Candidate

Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a relevant discipline
At least 1 years' experience within a Building Surveying role
Working towards RICS Chartership or committed to commencing the APC process
Experience within a consultancy environment preferred
Strong understanding of building surveying principles and practices
Experience with condition surveys, defects and professional reporting
Exposure to dilapidations, party wall matters or feasibility studies advantageous
Understanding of JCT building contracts desirable
Strong client-facing and communication skills
Commercially aware with the ability to manage client expectations
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Full UK Driving Licence
