Mtrec recruitment have partnered with our prestigious and long-standing client in their search for a Building Services Engineer (Maintenance) to join their team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will implement and manage a professional customer focused Building and Engineering maintenance service for the area of the company to deliver a safe and reliable environment which will fulfil the current and future requirements of the organisation. The Job You’ll Do;

* The post holder will, in conjunction with the lead Maintenance Officer for the team, determine the programme, plan and organise the development and cost effective delivery of:- Building Maintenance, Engineering Maintenance, Building & Engineering Operations, and Single Discipline Long Term Maintenance Schemes.

* Review, monitor and adjust, on a continual basis, the service provided to these areas to ensure that they meet current and planned company requirements.

* Advise on the annual maintenance requirements for the area along with estimates of cost for inclusion in the revenue budgets and supporting planning statements. Manage the annual budget allocation for either building or engineering services maintenance and monitor the financial position.

* Survey properties to identify Health & Safety risks and potential failures of plant and infrastructure. Bid for funding against the Long-Term Maintenance allocation and reserves. Identify, design and cost solutions to problems. Advise on prioritising projects on the rolling five-year programme.

* Take responsibility for roles as defined under the CDM regulations; consult with other sections of Estates & Facilities, Consultants, Contractors, Co-ordinators and Clients to ensure the organisation meets its obligations under all Health and Safety legislation.

* Ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that contractors are complying with relevant Health and Safety Policies, Legislation, and appropriate codes of practice. Ensure that all maintenance procedures are carried out to ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation particularly with regard to Legionella, Electricity at Work, Asbestos, Fire, COSHH, H&S, etc.

* Provide training and advice to colleagues, this would include but is not limited to demonstrating operational system to users etc.

* Manage internal and external resources to procure (projects), evaluate options, and carry out investment and risk appraisals to ensure the investment delivers good value. Act as Co-ordinator in accordance with the CDM regulations when necessary. Take financial control of the projects.

* Liaise with client representatives and adjacent occupants, determine their requirements, and advise on the potential implications and disruption caused by planned activities, implement and co-ordinate all necessary actions to minimise disturbance.

* Take over completed projects (new build and refurbishment) from the project teams. Set up maintenance regimes and contracts to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the building and its services.

* Provide all relevant professional and technical advice, where appropriate, to the Maintenance Manager, Faculties, Central Services and Outside Agency Representatives on all aspects of operational maintenance and project issues regarding options, recommendations and alternative solutions

* The post holder will be expected to provide an adhoc out of hours emergency response should the need arise, there is no set call out rota, however if the post holder is contacted outside of normal hours they will be required to assist unless it is unsafe to do so.

About You;

* Qualifications leading to Chartership (C.Eng, CIOB, RICS) in a relevant discipline. (MSc or BSc with demonstrable experience).

* A sound working knowledge of legislation relating to: -Employment, Procurement, Asbestos, Legionella, Gas, Electricity, H&S, Construction design and management, Disabled access, Equal rights etc. etc.

* Maintain and develop knowledge through continuing professional development.

* A relevant management qualification is desirable.

Essential

* Proven organisational ability together with project management skills although training will be given if necessary.

* The post holder needs to have the ability to write clear concise reports.

* Must be able to utilise relevant software packages such as those used in maintenance management and project design and specification.

* Three years minimum post qualification experience (5 years preferred), wide knowledge of building and/or building services maintenance and/or construction experience of contract and project management.

* An understanding backed up by experience, of planning, organising and delivering customer services is a major element of this post.

Desirable

* Proficient in the use of AutoCad or other drawing software
