A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Logistics Manager to join a well-established and growing supplier of building materials based in Cambridge.

This is a varied and rewarding position within a friendly, fast-paced team, offering excellent opportunities for professional development and progression as the business continues to expand.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the efficient distribution of building materials to customers across the region. You will be responsible for coordinating daily transport operations, managing deliveries and fleet utilisation, and ensuring exceptional levels of customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan, coordinate and oversee the daily delivery schedule of building materials to customers and sites.

* Maximise fleet utilisation and operational efficiency while maintaining excellent service levels.

* Manage and communicate with drivers, ensuring delivery instructions and schedules are clearly understood.

* Monitor deliveries in real time, proactively resolving any logistical issues that arise.

* Liaise with customers regarding delivery schedules, updates and any unforeseen delays.

* Work closely with suppliers, customers and internal teams to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.

* Support stock movement planning and contribute to continuous improvement of logistics processes.

* Promote the business as a trusted supplier of quality building materials throughout the local area.

* Ensure compliance with transport regulations, health and safety procedures, and company policies.

What the employer is looking for:

* Previous experience in a logistics, transport, distribution or operations management role within the building supplies, builders merchants, construction materials or related sector is essential.

* Strong knowledge of building materials and construction products.

* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment.

* A proactive problem solver with the ability to make effective decisions under pressure.

* Strong communication and customer service skills.

* Experience coordinating drivers, deliveries and transport operations.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

* Knowledge of transport legislation and logistics best practice would be advantageous.

* A hands-on, team-focused approach with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
