BSL Teaching Assistant / SEND Support Worker Needed – SE19

Location: SE19, South London
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner)
Salary: £95 - £120 per day (depending on experience)

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive one-form entry Catholic primary school in the SE19 area, which is seeking a dedicated and compassionate BSL Teaching Assistant / SEND Support Worker to join their specialist SEND provision.

This rewarding role will involve supporting pupils with additional needs, helping to facilitate communication, engagement, and access to learning through the use of British Sign Language (BSL). The school is looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting children and making a positive difference in their educational journey.

While previous primary school experience is desirable, it is not essential. The school is keen to hear from candidates with strong BSL skills and experience supporting individuals with hearing impairments, SEND, or communication needs in any setting.

The successful candidate will have:

Experience using British Sign Language (BSL) – this is essential
A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable but not essential:

Experience working within a primary school setting
Experience supporting children with SEND, hearing impairments, or communication needs
Teaching Assistant or support work experience
