BMS Commissioning Engineer
Location: Cardiff, Wales
Contract: 9 months initially
IR35: Outside IR35
Rate: £350 per day
The Role
We are currently looking for an experienced BMS Commissioning Engineer to join a major project in Cardiff on an initial 9-month contract.
You will be responsible for the commissioning and delivery of BMS and control systems, working closely with project teams, electrical contractors, panel manufacturers and the client to ensure systems are fully tested, operational and ready for handover.
Key Responsibilities
Lead BMS commissioning activities from installation through to final handover.
Configure, test and commission BMS software and control systems.
Carry out functional testing, fault finding and system integration.
Review drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
Coordinate with electrical installers, panel manufacturers and other engineering teams.
Monitor commissioning progress against project programmes and key milestones.
Produce and maintain commissioning documentation and test records.
Liaise directly with clients and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
Support system demonstrations and final project handover.
Ensure all commissioning activities are completed safely and in line with project requirements.
Key Requirements
Minimum 5 years' experience working as a BMS Commissioning Engineer.
Proven experience delivering BMS commissioning projects from installation through to handover.
Strong hands-on commissioning and fault-finding experience.
Experience working with complex or major BMS projects.
Strong knowledge of HVAC and BMS control systems.
Experience with BMS platforms such as Trend, Schneider, Tridium or Johnson Controls Metasys.
Good understanding of Modbus, BACnet and BMS networking.
Experience working with live electrical and control systems.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to lead commissioning activities and coordinate with multiple site teams.
Qualifications
ECS / CSCS Card or equivalent.
SMSTS or SSSTS.Desirable: SIS Modbus Certification
