Description:
We are recruiting for a Biomedical Scientist to join one of the largest diagnostic providers in Europe. Our client is dedicated to providing the highest quality diagnostic solutions that will make a difference in patients’ lives. They were established over 35 years ago and have rapidly grown throughout Europe since being a worldwide provider. Our client combines Laboratory, Radiology and Pathology expertise to provide answers to diagnostic questions in all medical disciplines.
As a Biomedical Scientist, you will make sure that the laboratory runs smoothly and timely provision of a high-quality histopathology service.
Key Responsibilities:
* To ensure that the specimens are received, booked in, cut-up, processed, cut, stained and dispatched as required to the highest standards, and within agreed turn around times. Must be able to dissect frozen sections
* To participate in the workload and assist in controlling the quality and accuracy of the work output
* To organise the work and supervise MLA’s & MTO’s
* To undertake any training courses as considered necessary for continued professional development
* To use and maintain any equipment within histology in compliance with the policy of the department
* To be aware of, and comply at all times with Health and Safety regulations and safe laboratory procedures
* Participate in specimen dissection
* To take part in an annual staff appraisal
Job requirements:
* Must have at least 2 years experience working in a diagnostic lab and histology
* HCPC Registered is a must
* Degree in Biomedical Science or related field
* Prior experience in a laboratory setting specialising in Histology
