Registered Biomedical Scientist (Band 5 & Band 6)

Milton Keynes | Temporary 3-6 Month Contract | Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm | 37.5 Hours per Week | NHS Laboratory

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists (Band 5 and Band 6) to support an NHS Clinical Chemistry Equipment Validation Project based in Milton Keynes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Biomedical Scientist to play a key role in the implementation of new analytical platforms within an NHS laboratory.

Working as part of a dedicated project team, you will support the installation, verification, and validation of new laboratory analysers, ensuring all equipment is fully validated, quality assured, and ready for operational use. Band 6 Biomedical Scientists will also provide additional technical expertise and support to the wider project team.

What We Offer

Temporary 3-6 month contract.
Monday to Friday.
9am-5pm working hours.
37.5 hours per week.

Work within a highly experienced Clinical Chemistry team.
Gain valuable experience implementing leading laboratory analyser platforms.

Key Duties

Support the installation, verification, and validation of new laboratory analysers.
Perform analytical testing and evaluate instrument performance against acceptance criteria.
Carry out method comparison studies and assess analyser functionality.
Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, ISO requirements, and UKAS accreditation.
Produce, maintain, and review validation documentation and technical reports.
Investigate and resolve technical issues during analyser implementation.
Work collaboratively with laboratory staff, equipment manufacturers, and project stakeholders.
Support the successful transition to new laboratory testing platforms while maintaining service quality.
Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement activities within the laboratory.

Requirements

HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist (essential).
Previous experience as a Biomedical Scientist within an NHS or UKAS-accredited clinical laboratory.
Strong background in Clinical Chemistry or Biochemistry.
Experience with analyser installation, validation, verification, or method comparison studies.
Good understanding of laboratory quality management systems and UKAS accreditation requirements.
Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.Experience with one or more of the following analyser platforms is essential:

Beckman Coulter DXI 9000.
Beckman Coulter AU Series.
Roche Cobas.
Siemens Healthineers analysers.Desirable:

Experience in Haematology and/or Blood Transfusion.
Previous Band 6 responsibilities or project experience.Please note: Applicants must be HCPC registered and have demonstrable Clinical Chemistry laboratory experience. Recent graduates or candidates with laboratory assistant-only experience will not be considered.
