Reporting to either the BIM Programme Manager, the local Lead Project Engineering Manager (LPEM), or Project Engineering Manager (PEM), the BIM Manager is responsible for delivery of BIM on Siemens RI UK projects/tenders as assigned and within budget, time and to the appropriate level of quality.

Siemens Mobility RI UK want to not only comply with BIM requirements scoped by Clients, but to lead the industry through innovative BIM applications and delivery to further optimise the value BIM can bring all project delivery stakeholders including Clients and the Siemens Mobility business.

The BIM Manager will support this vision by providing BIM project/tender support covering all relevant project phases and ensuring the project BIM deliverables are compliant to the Client, Industry and Siemens RI UK BIM standards. The BIM Manager will support the BIM Engineering Manager for Siemens Rail Infrastructure (RI) UK in any assigned strategy support, including communicating project progress and evidence. BIM Manager support on projects/tenders can range from Information Management, BIM modelling or both, depending on the size/scale or complexity of the BIM requirements.

Alongside project BIM delivery, the BIM Manager will support any other BIM team members on their project or in the national team where necessary. The BIM Manager will also support the project or programme team with any relevant technical, commercial or programme assistance needed.

Key Responsibilities

The BIM Manager is responsible for the following primary initiatives.

Author, implementation and management of the project/tender BIM Execution Plans, MIDPs, TIDPs, Common Data Environment, 3D design reviews, IDC/Design Review reports, COBie data exchanges, as required for the project/tender

Author, modify and review BIM models using suitable authoring and checking tools, as required for the project/tender

Input, export and validate associated asset data, meeting project and Client asset data handover requirements

Competent in one or more of the following software as a minimum; Bentley Projectwise, Bentley Microstation (inc. Decartes), Bentley OpenRail, Bentley iTwin, Bentley Synchro

Develop any project specific processes, procedures and plans to support BIM Management on the project/tender meeting client and industry standards

Implement an assurance regime to ensure compliance with project/tender BIM requirements and standards

Coordination and management of project/tender BIM resources for larger or more complex BIM projects/tenders with multiple BIM resources. This includes resources for 3D modelling, information management including any CDE administration and further specific technology support if required

Technical advice, presentations, and training on BIM processes, tools and deliverables for project/tender Client, Subcontractors and Siemens RI UK project/tender teams

Ensuring all procedures and tools are deployed consistently across the project/tender by conducting regular BIM project and supply chain partner audits

Coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to; BIM Lead, BIM modelling support or separate project/tender specific 3D modelling resources, Client counterparts, key subcontractor BIM managers/directors, internal engineering managers, IT applications teams, etc.

Adhere to and support the BIM Strategy for the business.

Provide internal reports on ROIs, benefits and provide project examples

Participate in and initiate BIM technical discussions to develop solutions

What do I need to qualify for this role?

Essential Competencies

Relevant Professional Qualifications to degree or equivalent level

Breath of knowledge in current BIM standards, including but not limited to ISO19650 suite, Government Soft Landings, etc.

Experience of delivery of BIM on large multidisciplinary projects

Experience of managing multidisciplinary BIM teams

Established professional status within engineering industry, including significant experience of BIM implementation on railway schemes in the UK

Commercially aware – able to forecast and manage resource utilisation and costs.

Safety culture aware – to be able to influence and develop an existing safety culture to latest generation thinking and practice.

Supportive of a consistent companywide approach to continuous improvement.

Strong leadership qualities including personal drive, persuasive communication skills, enthusiasm and support for company goals.

A broad base of engineering skills, experiences, knowledge and competencies covering the full engineering lifecycle, together with the requisite personal characteristics, to take responsibility for facilitating cross disciplinary engineering activity in complex, innovative and commercially challenging environments.

Strong and effective communicator at all levels within the Business – and in front of new and existing customers – both internal and external.

Must be willing to fill gaps in own knowledge and experience through taking a pro-active approach to learning and seeking information from within and outside the company.
