Description:

Behaviour Teaching Assistant - Primary School

Clacton-on-Sea, Essex
Start: Immediately after October Half Term
Full Time | Monday-Friday | 5 Days Per Week
Primary School - £95-£100 per day

Simply Education is working in partnership with a supportive primary school in Clacton-on-Sea to recruit an experienced Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately after the October half-term.

This is a full-time position working five days per week, supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour and require additional guidance to successfully access their learning. Previous experience working with children with challenging behaviour is essential, whether gained within a school, alternative provision, SEND setting or another relevant education and training environment.

The Role

As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to provide targeted support to pupils who may experience social, emotional or behavioural difficulties.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with challenging behaviour.

Using positive behaviour-management and de-escalation strategies.

Helping pupils regulate their emotions and develop appropriate coping strategies.

Identifying potential triggers and intervening early to prevent escalation.

Supporting pupils to remain engaged and focused during lessons.

Reinforcing school expectations, boundaries and positive behaviour.

Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes and other less structured periods.

Helping to implement individual behaviour plans and support strategies.

Recording and reporting behavioural incidents and pupil progress.

Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with pupils.

Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams and parents/carers.

Supporting the wider classroom when required and helping to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate must have previous experience supporting children or young people who display challenging behaviour. You should be calm, resilient and confident when responding to difficult situations while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.

Experience within education and training, SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or a similar setting would be highly beneficial. Knowledge of behaviour-management techniques, emotional regulation and de-escalation strategies would also be advantageous.

This position would suit someone who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and understands that challenging behaviour can often be a form of communication.

Why Apply?

You'll be joining one of our partner primary schools in Clacton-on-Sea, working as part of a supportive team committed to helping every pupil succeed. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your experience within education and training while making a genuine difference to children who require additional behavioural and emotional support.

If you're an experienced Behaviour Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time role starting immediately after the October half-term, we'd love to hear from you.
