About the Role

Are you an experienced, resilient, and compassionate mentor, youth worker, or support professional looking to make a transformative impact on the lives of children and young people?

We are seeking dedicated Behaviour Mentors for both primary and secondary schools across Derbyshire.

In this role, you will work closely with students who need targeted pastoral guidance, helping them navigate emotional challenges, manage complex or challenging behaviours, and re-engage with their learning.

Whether you are seeking full-time or part-time work, these flexible temp-to-perm contracts offer a fantastic opportunity to secure a long-term position within a supportive school community.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

* Targeted Mentoring: Deliver structured one-to-one or small-group mentoring sessions to support students at risk of exclusion or experiencing barriers to learning.

* Behaviour Management & Boundaries: Establish fair, firm, and consistent boundaries that foster mutual respect and encourage positive choices.

* De-escalation & Crisis Support: Utilize advanced de-escalation, conflict-resolution, and positive behaviour management techniques to maintain a safe and calm learning environment.

* Holistic Engagement: Implement engaging, practical, or creative strategies to capture the interest of hard-to-reach pupils across primary and secondary year groups.

* Collaboration: Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and multi-agency teams to track student progress and support individual development plans.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

* Proven background working as a Behaviour Mentor, youth worker, or support specialist within educational or residential settings.

* Strong capabilities in conflict resolution, emotional regulation support, and crisis management.

* A natural talent for establishing trust quickly with vulnerable students and acting as a dependable role model.

Qualifications & Certifications

* Relevant training or qualifications in Mentoring, Youth Work, Counselling Skills, or Children's and Young People's Mental Health (e.g., NVQ, NCFE, or CACHE levels).

* Up-to-date Management of Violence & Aggression (MVA), NAPPI, or equivalent positive behaviour management accreditations.

* A fully enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) alongside current safeguarding training.

Why Join Us?

* Choose from full-time or part-time hours tailored to suit your lifestyle and availability.

* Secure an immediate start with attractive temp-to-perm contracts leading to permanent school placements across Derbyshire.

* Make a genuine, lasting difference in the educational journey and personal growth of local primary and secondary pupils.
