Behaviour Mentor - SEMH & Autism
High Barnet, EN5 (commutable from Finchley, Whetstone, Mill Hill, Borehamwood and Potters Bar)
£110-£125 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a resilient and relationship-focused Behaviour Mentor to provide dedicated 1:1 support for an 8-year-old Year 4 pupil within a specialist SEN setting in Barnet.
The pupil has Autism, SEMH and behavioural needs and requires a consistent adult who can build trust, provide clear boundaries and become a positive role model throughout the school day.
This isn't about simply managing behaviour. The priority is understanding what sits behind it, developing a strong relationship and helping the pupil feel safe, regulated and ready to engage with learning.
About the Role

Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
Build a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil
Support emotional regulation and SEMH needs
Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging situations
Establish clear routines, expectations and boundaries
Use positive reinforcement to encourage engagement
Help the pupil recognise emotions and develop coping strategies
Support access to classroom learning and individual activities
Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral/SEN team
Contribute towards individual EHCP and behaviour targetsIdeal Candidate

Experience supporting children with SEMH, Autism or challenging behaviour
Resilient, patient and emotionally consistent
Able to build rapport while maintaining firm boundaries
Confident de-escalating challenging situations
A positive role model who can encourage confidence and independence
Experience in SEN schools, behaviour provision, mentoring or youth work is particularly relevantWhy Long Term Futures?
