Behaviour Mentor - Redbridge

Do you have a natural ability to connect with children and help them overcome barriers to learning? Are you looking for a long-term Behaviour Mentor opportunity in Redbridge?

Academics are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Mentor to join a primary school in Redbridge on a full-time basis until July 2027. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with behaviour, emotional or pastoral needs who wants to make a genuine difference within a school environment.

Contract: Full-time, long-term contract until July 2027
Start Date: September 2026
Day Rate: £92 - £120 a day

About the Role

The Behaviour Mentor will play an important role in helping pupils feel settled, understood and ready to learn. You will work with children who may experience difficulties with behaviour, emotional regulation, confidence or engagement. Building trust will be at the heart of the role, giving pupils someone they can rely on while helping them develop strategies to manage challenges more positively.

The successful Behaviour Mentor will be someone who can remain calm and consistent, while also understanding that every child has different needs and triggers.

Key Responsibilities

Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
Provide one-to-one and small-group behavioural support.
Help pupils manage emotions and regulate their behaviour.
Encourage positive attitudes towards school and learning.
Identify behavioural triggers and help pupils develop appropriate strategies.
Work alongside teachers and support staff to provide consistent support.
Reinforce positive behaviour and clear boundaries.
Contribute towards a safe, calm and inclusive school environment.Candidate Requirements

Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs.
Experience within a school, SEN/SEMH, pastoral or youth setting would be beneficial.
Calm, patient and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Confident managing challenging situations in a positive manner.
Ability to establish clear boundaries while maintaining strong relationships.
A genuine desire to help children overcome barriers to learning.
Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply.What Academics Offer
