Auto Mechanic / GSE Engineer
£25,000-£27,000 DOE with a £80/month attendance bonus.
Gatwick Airport
Monday to Friday 07:00-15:30
Red Sky Personnel are currently recruiting for an Auto Mechanic / GSE Engineer /Trailer Technician based at Gatwick Airport to undertake repairs and maintenance of baggage trailers to the required standard.
Auto Mechanic / GSE Engineer Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Repair trailers and dollies as requested by the Workshop Supervisor
* Carry out inspections, airside and in the workshop and advise all defects to the Workshop Supervisor before commencing with any repairs or booking out any parts.
* Collect equipment for workshop servicing and repair.
* Job card/inspection sheet must be completed correctly to current point of repair and handed to the Workshop Supervisor at the end of each day’s shift. All non-productive time is also to be added to the correct job card for authorisation by the Workshop Supervisor
* Update the Workshop Supervisor of any further work or parts required immediately.
* Report any defective items immediately to the Workshop Supervisor and red tag.
Auto Mechanic / GSE Engineer Health and Safety Requirements:
* To act responsibly and to do everything possible to prevent injury to themselves and other persons.
* Observe all rules and appropriate operating procedures/instructions regarding safety at all times.
* Correctly use safety equipment, protective devices, and PPE (if applicable)
* Inform their immediate Supervisor of all accidents, dangerous occurrences, near miss events, damage, or potentially dangerous situations, whether persons are injured or not.
* Cooperate in the investigation of any accident or incident.
* Report any unsafe or defective plant, tools, equipment, PPE, practices, methods, or other hazards.
* Participate in improving health and safety in the Company by making suggestions in these matters to the Operation Manager, Workshop Supervisor or Safety Representative
Auto Mechanic / GSE Engineer Knowledge and Skills:
* Previous Mechanic experience within Automotive or Ground Service Equipment
* Welding and Fabrication
* Analytical and numerate with good communication skills.
* Customer oriented/service delivery focussed.
* General knowledge of health and safety regulations
Qualifications:
* Welding (desirable)
* Forklift (desirable)
