Autism Support Worker - Gloucestershire

Would you like to use your skills to help autistic children develop confidence, communication and independence?

Join a welcoming specialist school in Gloucestershire who are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Autism Support Worker to join their team full time. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, learning needs and behavioural challenges.

As an Autism Support Worker, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
Develop communication, social and independence skills between pupils.
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
Encourage confidence and life skills.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
Work closely with teachers and specialist support staff.Being an Autism Support Worker is a valuable opportunity to gain experience working within Autism and specialist education, while developing your understanding of neurodiversity, communication and behaviour. As an Autism Support Worker, you will play an important part in creating a calm, supportive and engaging environment where every pupil can feel confident and included.

The role would suit a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Psychology or Criminology Graduate, or anyone with relevant personal or professional experience. Previous Autism or SEN experience is beneficial but not essential, as training and guidance will be provided as an Autism Support Worker.

The school is looking for an Autism Support Worker who is patient, nurturing, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting young people.
