Academics, an established Education Agency, are acting as an agency and are recruiting Autism & SEMH Teaching Assistants to work on a temporary, ongoing supply basis across a variety of specialist education settings throughout Doncaster. These Autism and SEMH Teaching Assistant opportunities involve supporting pupils within both primary and secondary specialist provisions. Many settings cater for mixed-age groups based on ability rather than age, with small class sizes and personalised learning programmes designed to help pupils achieve their full potential.

Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply
Pay: £92.56 - £100 per day (paid via PAYE, no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay, dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available)

About the Role

Working as an Autism and SEMH Teaching Assistant in Doncaster, you will support children and young people with Autism (ASC), SEMH and a range of additional learning needs within specialist educational settings.

The Autism and SEMH Teaching Assistant role in Doncaster may involve supporting pupils within primary or secondary provisions, where classes are typically small and learning is tailored to individual ability. You will assist with classroom activities, targeted intervention work and therapy-based sessions that encourage communication, emotional regulation, independence and positive engagement with learning.

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils with Autism (ASC), SEMH and additional needs
Deliver 1:1 support alongside small group intervention sessions
Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Assist with therapeutic and personalised learning activities
Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers and wider professionals
Follow safeguarding procedures at all timesCandidate Requirements

Previous SEN experience or a strong understanding of Autism, SEMH and associated needs
Calm, patient and resilient approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced Child and Adult DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain both, as some provisions support post-16 learners)What Academics Offer
