Our clients are one of Scotland’s larger firms of accountants, providing a full range of services to clients including external audit, corporate and personal taxation, payroll outsourcing, business support (Cloud accounting and bookkeeping), corporate finance and consultancy services.
The firm also operates a dedicated insolvency department which provides debt solutions to both consumers and businesses.
Based: The role will be based at their Glasgow offices; hybrid working model exists
(Other locations are available throughout Scotland and Northern England)
Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Mon-Fri

About the job
We seek a highly motivated and experienced Audit Senior (1-2 years of post-qualification experience) to join our busy team of enthusiastic professionals. The role will involve working on the external audits of a wide variety of clients, including, public, education, charity and private sectors.
Key responsibilities
Planning audit assignments
Supervising, and reviewing work of, junior members of the team whilst performing more technical fieldwork.
Providing training to students on the job, and mentoring them through their studies
Preparation of accounts from trial balance, including ensuring correct disclosure within financial statements and making all appropriate audit adjustments (70% of all audits)
Drafting management letters for clients, highlighting recommendations for improvements to systems, controls and governance arrangements
Acting as the Senior fieldwork team member on audit assignments
Liaising with clients and attending client meetings, including Audit Committees and Board meetings
Taking ownership of all assignments from planning through to completion
Leading on audit quality, ensuring adherence and compliance with the firm’s processes and auditing standards
Supporting sales and business development
Supporting the annual intake of graduate trainees
Any other appropriate tasks, as directed
About you
Successful candidates must be able to work within a professional office environment across their client base. You must hold appropriate professional qualifications (or be qualified by experience) and must have significant audit experience. You will have the skills to take the lead audit senior role and you must be confident in liaising with our clients across all sectors. You will play a support role to the manager(s) and partner(s).
Essential Skills/Experience
Significant audit experience
a minimum of 1 year PQ experience, 4-6 years of experience
experience of medium to large sized company audit file work
experience gained in a small to medium sized practice
Accounts preparation: must have an excellent understanding and proven experience in this area and be comfortable with accounting adjustments, the preparation of financial statements and appropriate disclosures
Appropriate awareness of ISAs and FRSs and technically up to date
Desirable Skills/Experience
Professional qualification, eg, CA, ACA, ACCA
Charity sector accounts preparation and audit experience
Further education sector audit experience
Personal Qualities
Proven organisational skills, ability to lead multiple assignments simultaneously
Takes ownership of the task and ensures completion in line with client deadlines
Uses judgement and experience to deal with obstacles
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
