Audit and Accounts Semi Senior Accountant

Sterling Partners | Didsbury, Manchester, M20 2DR
£25,000 to £32,000 per annum, depending on experience
Full time, permanent | Full AAT or ICAEW/ACCA study support

Sterling Partners is looking for an Audit and Accounts Semi Senior Accountant with accountancy practice experience to join its growing Manchester team.

You’ll work on statutory audits across different industries and client sizes, alongside accounts preparation and tax assignments. With direct client contact, support from experienced colleagues and comprehensive study support, you’ll build your technical confidence and develop a rounded accountancy career.

The role

You’ll contribute to audit assignments from planning through to completion, alongside preparing accounts and tax returns accurately and within agreed deadlines.

Audit

Assist with statutory audit planning, fieldwork and completion across a range of industries and client sizes.
Carry out substantive and analytical audit procedures, testing areas including revenue, payroll, stock, fixed assets and bank balances.
Prepare clear audit working papers and document supporting evidence.
Discuss accounting and audit issues with the audit senior or manager, attend client premises where required and support junior colleagues.
Accounts and tax

Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, applying FRS 102 and FRS 105 where appropriate.
Prepare management accounts and year end adjustments, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
Prepare corporation tax computations and company tax returns, with self assessment and VAT work where required.
Liaise with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and keep assignments moving.
About you

You’ll have previous experience in an accountancy firm or practice, including both accounts preparation and audit work.

You’ll bring strong attention to detail, good organisation and a proactive approach to meeting deadlines. You should be comfortable communicating with clients, collaborating with colleagues and taking responsibility for accurate, well documented work.

Proficiency in IRIS, Xero, Sage and Microsoft Excel is required.
