Attendance Officer - Secondary School
Location: Bury
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Long-term, until Christmas, with the potential to become permanent
Contract: Temporary, with a temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate

Aspire People are currently recruiting for an experienced Attendance Officer to join a welcoming secondary school in Bury, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced attendance professional looking for a long-term role, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working as an Attendance Officer within an educational setting, ideally within a secondary school environment. You will play a key role in monitoring and improving attendance, working closely with pupils, parents/carers, teaching staff and the wider pastoral team.

The Role
* Monitor and track pupil attendance and punctuality.
* Follow up on unexplained and persistent absences.
* Contact parents/carers regarding attendance concerns.
* Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure information is updated promptly.
* Work closely with pastoral staff and senior leaders to identify and address attendance issues.
* Support the school in improving overall attendance and reducing persistent absence.
* Assist with attendance-related meetings, interventions and reporting.
* Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

* Have previous experience working as an Attendance Officer.
* Have worked within an educational setting, ideally a secondary school.
* Have a strong understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding.
* Are confident communicating with pupils, parents/carers and school staff.
* Are organised, reliable and able to manage sensitive information professionally.
* Can start ASAP.
* Are looking for a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent.

Requirements
* A DBS registered on the Update Service is required.
* References covering the last 2 years of employment/education are required.
* Previous experience in an attendance-focused role within a school or educational setting is essential.
