Associate Transport Planner - London / Surrey (Hybrid)

Penguin Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading UK consultancy in the search for an experienced Associate Transport Planner to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior role within a respected consultancy, working on a diverse range of development projects across the UK while benefiting from a hybrid working environment based in London or Surrey.
Our client specialises in transport planning and infrastructure design across a wide variety of sectors, including residential, retail, leisure, office, distribution, industrial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments. Their team delivers tailored solutions throughout the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and assessment through to implementation and supervision, with a strong reputation for providing cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
As an Associate Transport Planner, you will play a key role in leading transport planning projects, managing client relationships, and supporting the delivery of integrated infrastructure solutions across a broad range of developments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and delivery of Transport Assessments and Transport Statements.
Prepare and develop Travel Plans for a range of development projects.
Undertake and manage transport modelling and analytical assessments.
Carry out feasibility studies to support development proposals.
Provide transport planning input to highway design projects.
Coordinate with drainage and flood risk specialists to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.
Prepare clear, accurate, and professional technical reports.
Present technical findings to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
Attend meetings, consultations, and, where required, public inquiries to provide expert transport planning advice.
Mentor and support junior members of the transport planning team.
Assist with project management to ensure work is delivered to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
Contribute to bids and proposals for new projects.
Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery across all projects.
Work collaboratively within a hybrid team environment while also managing your own workload independently.Requirements
Strong experience in transport planning, including the delivery of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for development projects.
Proficiency in transport modelling and related analytical tools, with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into practical recommendations.
Excellent communication skills, including technical report writing, presenting complex information to non-specialists, and stakeholder engagement.
Degree (or equivalent) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
Professional accreditation with CIHT, TPS, ICE, or working towards accreditation is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience of UK transport policy, design standards, and development planning processes, including liaison with local authorities and other public bodies.
Competence using relevant software, including junction and network modelling, GIS, and MS Office.
Strong analytical and detail-focused approach.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
