Join Springwood Lodge as an Associate Specialist where you will provide care for women with personality disorders and mental illness in an established and well-run service. You will focus on assessing, managing and supporting individuals on a specialist setting offering treatment and rehabilitation for women with complex difficulties, with the aim of helping them to return to community living.

You will work alongside an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist and a wider multidisciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to deliver person-centred care, treatment and support to some of the most vulnerable people in society.

You will be able to join a dynamic peer group with your Consultant colleagues within the region and will work with the Consultant supervisor at Springwood Lodge.  You will also be supported to join the Psychiatrist Mentorship Scheme to support your individual and career development if you wish.

Spring Wood Lodge is located in the outskirts of Leeds at Guiseley and has close links to NHS services with established care pathways. It has excellent transport links to Bradford, Leeds and is within a short distance of Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The service provides inpatient treatment for up to 25 patients, split across three units of rehabilitation, intensive and high dependency settings, depending on the acuity level. The vacancy has risen due to planned increase in number of beds.

Your Responsibilities include:

Assessments and admissions of new patients to the service.

Obtaining collateral histories from other professionals and family.

Formulating a diagnosis in conjunction with the MDT.

Supporting physical health checks and working closely with GP service who provide a weekly clinic.

Completing discharge letters and reports

Support the adequate working of the Care Programme Approach and Care and treatment plans for service users.

Work closely with our Pharmacist to ensure safe, effective, evidence based prescribing.

Liaise with external professionals ad work collaboratively with commissioners and external care teams to aid seamless transitions to the community.

Contributing to the service development by participating in Clinical Governance activities, quality initiatives, audits, research and teaching.

Under the supervision of the Consultant, provide leadership of the clinical team and preparing First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearing reports.

As an Associate Specialist, you will have:

Full GMC Registration

Experience in working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams

To be in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists

To have had an Appraisal/RITA within the last year

At least 3 years’ experience in Psychiatry

Experience working as a doctor within a similar environment

Section 12(2) approval is desirable
