The Opportunity

Emtech Recruitment is working with a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to recruit an Associate Civil Engineer for its growing London team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer with 7+ years' experience to step into a leadership role, taking ownership of project delivery while mentoring engineers and developing client relationships. You'll play a key role in delivering infrastructure designs across a broad range of residential, commercial, industrial, education and mixed-use developments.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to leading projects and supporting the continued growth of the civil engineering team.

The Role

As an Associate Civil Engineer, you will:

Lead the delivery of civil engineering design projects from concept through to construction.
Manage and oversee the design of highways, roads, drainage and external works.
Act as the technical lead on multiple projects, ensuring quality, programme and budget targets are achieved.
Liaise directly with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
Review and approve technical designs and calculations.
Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians, promoting technical excellence across the team.
Attend client meetings and represent the business professionally.
Support business development activities, including preparing fee proposals and identifying new opportunities.
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with UK design standards and relevant legislation.

Requirements

Degree (BEng or MEng) in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
7+ years' experience in the design and delivery of civil engineering projects.
Strong experience in highways, roads and drainage design for development infrastructure projects.
Excellent understanding of UK design standards, regulations and industry best practice.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and related civil engineering design software.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong leadership, organisational and project management skills.
Commercial awareness with the ability to manage project budgets and client expectations.
Eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable

Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards Chartership with ICE or another relevant professional institution.
Experience managing project teams and mentoring engineers.
Knowledge of drainage products, highways infrastructure and development design.
Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects.
