Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Monday - Friday

Job Description

The Assistant Site Manager supports the Site Manager in the delivery of traditional new build housing projects within the construction sector. The role involves overseeing site activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Assistant Site Manager coordinates subcontractors and suppliers, monitors progress, manages resources effectively, and maintains a safe working environment at all times.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the Site Manager in planning, organising, and controlling site operations.
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of subcontractors and labour teams.
Monitor site progress and report on performance against programme milestones.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
Manage materials and equipment to ensure availability and minimise waste.
Identify and resolve site issues promptly to avoid delays.
Support quality control procedures to meet project specifications and standards.
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders as required.
Contribute to site inductions and toolbox talks to promote safety awareness.

Required Qualifications

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
First Aid qualification.
Full current driving licence.

Experience

Proven experience working on traditional new build housing projects.
Previous site supervisory or assistant site management experience preferred.
Familiarity with construction site practises, health and safety requirements, and quality standards.

Knowledge and Skills

Strong understanding of traditional construction methods for new build housing.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Organisational skills with attention to detail.
Competence in using Microsoft Office applications and site management software.
Commitment to promoting a positive health and safety culture on site.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily based on construction sites in the West Midlands region, including Coventry.
Full-time hours are expected, with occasional requirement for additional hours to meet project demands.
The role involves exposure to all typical site conditions, including outdoor work in variable weather.
Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory at all times on site.
Travel to various sites within the region may be necessary.
