Astute's Power Team is partnered with a global company, who specialise within the Energy from Waste industry, to recruit for an Assistant Shift Team Leader to join their modern EfW Power Station in Grangemouth, Scotland.

The vital Assistant Shift Team Leader role comes with a salary of £49,523 + £5,000 shift allowance + Bonus + Overtime + Private Medical + Pension + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Assistant Shift Team Leader role

Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

Assisting the Shift Team Leader in the safe & efficient operation of the plant, via the DCS/SCADA system, including high-pressure steam boilers, turbines, auxiliary plant, etc.
Carry out plant inspections, adjustments, readings and maintain all data accurately to ensure compliance with the environmental permit.
Manage and monitor plant consumables, ensuring stock levels are maintained and liaising with procurement to replenish supplies.
Supervising contractors, reviewing RAMS and ensuring all work is carried out in line with company legislation and processes.
Identify areas within the plant for improvement to improve efficiency / availability.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 or above qualification in an engineering discipline (not a necessity)
A formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH will be desired
Ideally have experience being an Authorised Person/Senior Authorised Person for either LV or HV

Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge

The Assistant Shift Team Leader role would suit someone who has:

Prior experience working in heavy process engineering environments such as Power Stations, Petrochemicals, Refineries, Paper Mills, COMAH sites, etc.
Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers, who have leaderships experience would be suitable for this role
Prior experience working with steam raising plant will be highly advantageous.
Prior experience operating plant via a DCS/SCADA system will be a necessity
Good knowledge of Safe Systems of Work procedures (permits to work, RAMS, etc)
