Description:

Assistant Service Manager - Canterbury

£29012 (per annum pro rata)

We are seeking an Assistant Service Manager who demonstrates a proactive, hands-on approach and a genuine commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the individuals we support. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, excel in dynamic environments, and maintain a professional, solution-focused attitude.

Smock Acre is a dedicated support service providing care for three adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and communication needs. The individuals we support present with complex medical requirements and necessitate a high level of personal care, including moving and handling assistance, with one individual requiring PEG feeding support.

Our service is based in a lovely but rural location, offering a peaceful and rewarding working environment. Because there is no nearby public transport, candidates will need to have their own form of transport to travel to and from the service.

What you’ll be doing

As our Assistant Service Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing a safe, empowering, and high-quality service. You will work in close collaboration with the Service Manager to lead, motivate, and cultivate a positive and high-performing staff team. Your responsibilities will include balancing safeguarding requirements with positive risk-taking to promote independence, maintaining current knowledge of policies, procedures, and best practice standards, and providing flexible support across various shifts, including bank holidays, early and late shifts (7:00am–2:30pm, 2:30pm–10:00pm across a seven-day period), and occasional extended hours for one-to-one guidance or night staff supervision. Additionally, there is a waking night and a sleep-in shift in which you would be expected to participate when required. You will also take part in the on-call rota and benefit from one dedicated administrative day per week to support planning, organisation, and service oversight.

Benefits you will receive

Salary £29,012 (per annum pro rata)

High quality training that supports your career development

Paid enhanced DBS check

Flexible working

Shopping discount via Blue Light Card and The Benefits website

Paid annual leave (pro rata)

Contributory pension scheme with life assurance

Ready to take the next step?

Apply today or get in touch for an informal chat. We’re excited to meet people who want to grow with us and help shape the future of our service.

As part of our commitment to the Disability Confident Scheme, candidates who declare a disability and meet the key criteria for this role will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities at interview stage.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable candidate is found or if we experience a high volume of applications
