Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Façades
Location: Staffordshire (hybrid, with office and site visits)
Type: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £28,000 – £40,000+ DOE + package
The company
Our client is a specialist façade contractor delivering new build, refurbishment and remediation projects from concept to completion. They cover the full process in-house: pre-construction, design and engineering, procurement, manufacture, installation and performance testing. They work on high-profile buildings across the UK and are growing their commercial team.
The role
Our client is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the Commercial Manager and project teams. You’ll help maintain commercial information across live projects and make sure contractual requirements are met. It’s a great opportunity to develop your career in a specialist sector with strong demand. The salary range reflects that they’ll consider anyone from an early-career AQS through to someone ready to step up to QS.
What you’ll be doing
* Helping prepare applications for payment and chasing prompt payment for work done
* Supporting the build-up and agreement of variation accounts with clients and subcontractors
* Assisting with monthly cost-to-complete (CTC) reports and cash flow forecasts
* Helping set up subcontract orders on the correct terms and conditions
* Preparing and issuing payment notices to subcontractors
* Supporting final accounts with clients and the supply chain
* Working with site teams and visiting sites as needed
What we’re looking for
* Some experience in a QS or commercial role, ideally with a main contractor or specialist subcontractor
* Façade, cladding or envelope experience is an advantage, but not essential
* Studying for or holding a BSc/HND in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (desirable)
* Some knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
* Good time management and the ability to work to tight deadlines
* A strong communicator and team player who can also work on their own initiative
* Full UK driving licence
