Description:

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join an established Civil Engineering Contractor delivering a growing portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the North East.

Our client works across the water and utilities sector, delivering projects involving clean water, wastewater, treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations and associated civil engineering works.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their commercial career within a supportive and established contractor.

The Role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with the Quantity Surveyor and wider commercial team, supporting the commercial management of water and wastewater projects from procurement through to final account.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the commercial management of water and wastewater projects.
Assisting with project budgets, cost control and forecasting.
Supporting the preparation of CVRs and commercial reports.
Assisting with applications for payment and valuations.
Monitoring project costs and identifying potential commercial risks and opportunities.
Supporting the management of variations and compensation events.
Assisting with the administration of NEC contracts.
Assisting with subcontractor procurement and management.
Reviewing subcontractor applications, valuations and payments.
Supporting the preparation and agreement of subcontractor final accounts.
Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.
Working closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and the wider project team.
Developing your knowledge of commercial and contractual procedures within the water sector.

About You

We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with an interest in developing a career within the water and civil engineering sector.

You may already have experience within:

Water and wastewater
Utilities
Civil engineering
Infrastructure
Highways
ConstructionYou will ideally have:

Previous experience in a commercial or Quantity Surveying environment.
An understanding of construction or civil engineering projects.
An interest in developing your knowledge of NEC contracts.
Good numerical and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication and organisational skills.
A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
The ability to work effectively as part of a project team.A degree, HNC/HND or other relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction or Civil Engineering would be advantageous. Candidates working towards a relevant qualification will also be considered.
