Are you an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for a role where you can get involved in genuinely interesting projects, broaden your experience and work towards the next stage of your career?
We're working with a growing property and construction consultancy that is looking to strengthen its Plymouth team with an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. With a diverse project portfolio across the UK, this is an opportunity to work alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers while taking on increasing responsibility.
The Opportunity
You'll have the chance to work across a varied range of sectors and project types, with values ranging from several hundred thousand pounds through to major £20m+ developments.
Projects include:
Residential developments and regeneration schemes
Healthcare projects, including hospital ward refurbishments and GP surgeries
Listed and historic buildings, including refurbishment and conversion projects
Hotels
Housing association schemes across the UK
Industrial and commercial developments
Major mixed-use schemes incorporating residential and retail… and more!You'll work closely with the wider team across cost management, project management and building surveying, giving you excellent exposure to the wider consultancy environment.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll support the delivery of projects from early stages through to completion, including:
Assisting with cost planning, estimating and budgeting
Preparing and maintaining cost reports
Supporting procurement and tendering exercises
Assisting with contract administration and commercial management
Valuations, variations and payment applications
Monitoring project costs and expenditure
Supporting senior surveyors with client reporting and meetings
Working alongside Project Managers and other disciplines to deliver successful projects
Developing your technical knowledge and taking on greater responsibility as your experience growsThere is also scope for someone with the right ambition and experience to develop their Project Management and QS skillset, making this a particularly attractive opportunity for someone who doesn't want to be restricted to one discipline long-term.
What They're Looking For
We're keen to speak with Assistant Quantity Surveyors with at least 18 months' consultancy experience who are looking to progress their career.
Ideally, you will have:
Experience within a property/construction consultancy environment
Around 18+ months' Quantity Surveying experience
Exposure to cost management and commercial delivery
Good understanding of construction processes and contracts
Strong communication and organisational skills
A proactive attitude and willingness to take on responsibility
A relevant degree or professional qualification
An interest in progressing towards MRICS, where applicable
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicleSector experience is open - it's your consultancy background, attitude and potential that matter most.
