The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK's leading M&E Contractors supporting the commercial delivery of a major new-build project.
The successful candidate will initially be working on a new-build office development with an M&E package valued at approximately £15 million, offering excellent exposure to a significant project and the opportunity to develop their commercial experience.
Ideally, candidates will have an M&E or Building Services background. However, we would also welcome applications from those with general construction experience or experience working within a larger construction or contracting organisation, where they have gained an understanding of Quantity Surveying and commercial processes.
You will be joining a supportive and experienced commercial team, with access to ongoing guidance, mentorship and development to help progress your career.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the commercial management and financial control of M&E projects.
* Support the preparation, submission and agreement of valuations and applications for payment.
* Assist with subcontractor procurement, package management and payment assessments.
* Monitor project costs, variations and change control.
* Assist with the preparation and management of project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
* Review subcontractor quotations and assess costs against project requirements.
* Support the management of contractual documentation and commercial risks.
* Liaise with project managers, site teams, subcontractors and the wider commercial department.
* Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure project costs are effectively monitored.
* Work closely with senior Quantity Surveyors to develop commercial knowledge and best practice.
About You
* Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Trainee QS or similar commercial role.
* Ideally, experience within M&E, Mechanical & Electrical or Building Services.
* Alternatively, a background in general construction or a sizeable contracting organisation with exposure to formal QS and commercial procedures.
* Good understanding of commercial processes, cost control and subcontractor management.
* Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
* Good communication and relationship-building abilities.
* Proactive, motivated and keen to develop within a commercial environment.
* A relevant Quantity Surveying or Construction qualification would be advantageous.
What's on Offer?
* Opportunity to work on a significant £15m M&E package within a new-build office development.
* Join an established and supportive commercial team.
* Dedicated mentorship and guidance from experienced Quantity Surveyors.
* Exposure to major project commercial processes and procedures.
* Excellent opportunity for professional development and career progression.
* Competitive salary and benefits package.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to build their experience within a supportive M&E commercial team and progress their career on a substantial project
