The role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor is instrumental in executing tasks related to Procurement, Contract Administration, Risk Management, and Reporting. Leveraging expertise in cost estimation and negotiation, Quantity Surveyors lead procurement activities, ensuring alignment with project requirements and regulations. Proficiency in contract management facilitates smooth project operations, while proactive risk management safeguards outcomes. Cost Management is pivotal in ensuring the financial success of projects, encompassing cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. Accurate cost estimation establishes realistic budgets and secures necessary resources, while effective budget development and management control expenses and optimize resource allocation. Robust cost control measures are crucial for preventing budget overruns and maintaining financial discipline.
Cost Managers play a critical role in ensuring projects remain financially viable, delivering value to stakeholders by scrutinizing cost factors, monitoring expenditures, and identifying opportunities for optimisation without compromising quality. Effective Cost Management contributes to on-time, within-budget project delivery to expected quality standards, requiring strong analytical skills, proactive communication, and prompt problem-solving.Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Chartered status (MRICS) preferred but not essential.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the construction or retrofit industry. Experience with large-scale decarbonisation projects is advantageous.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills are fundamental, enabling precise cost estimation and budgeting. Effective communication, both verbal and written, ensures clear articulation of complex information. Collaborative teamwork within multidisciplinary project teams fosters efficiency and synergy. Meticulous attention to detail guarantees accuracy in all project aspects, from procurement to reporting. Strong problem-solving abilities facilitate swift issue identification and practical solution proposals. Adaptability to changing project dynamics ensures seamless navigation of evolving requirements and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control techniques.

Strong understanding of construction contracts, including JCT and NEC forms.

Familiarity with procurement processes and subcontractor management.
