Company Overview: Our pre-cast client requires an estimator on a permanent basis. The client is a leading manufacturer of architectural and structural precast concrete products for the housing, civils, rail, landscaping, utilities, offshore and flood defence sectors. As they expand production, they are seeking a skilled Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team. If you have a passion for precision, cost management, and collaboration, this role is for you.

Role of the Assistant Quantity Surveyor: As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in our client's commercial management process. Reporting to the Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Department, you'll work closely with their teams to ensure accurate cost estimation, contract management, and efficient project delivery.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Quantity Surveyor:

Cost Estimation and Analysis:
Review architectural plans and prepare quantity requirements.
Estimate the quantity and costs of materials, labour, and construction equipment.
Scrutinise maintenance and material costs to ensure optimal deals.
Prepare contract documents, including bills of quantities and other relevant details.
Contract Management:
Negotiate contracts and pricing with contractors and suppliers.
Liaise with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
Assist in preparing contractual claims.
Maintain accurate records related to costs and project progress.
Project Support:
Collaborate with the Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Department on various tasks:
Preparing bills of quantities and re-measuring works.
Procuring sub-contractors in line with the project procurement strategy.
Managing costs across a range of projects.
Conducting cost value analysis and reporting.
Pricing variations and obtaining client agreement.
Valuing works as they progress and finalising accounts.
Compiling program-based cost-to-complete and project budgets.
Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities.
Providing commercial advice to the site team when needed.
Liaising with external stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the overall improvement of the client's services.
Identify problems and offer solutions.
Uphold Quality, Environment Management Safety System (QEMS) procedures.
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the client experience.Experience Required of the Assistant Quantity Surveyor:

Background: Previous experience within the construction industry, especially in precast concrete projects, is essential.
Technical Skills: Strong analytical skills for cost estimation and contract management.
Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous record-keeping and accuracy.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with project teams.Location of the Assistant Quantity Surveyor role:

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be based on our Client's North Nottinghamshire Manufacturing unit.
