Description:
We're looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Shropshire Term Service Contract team in Shrewsbury, supporting the delivery of essential infrastructure services for Shropshire Council.

Location: Shrewsbury with agile working
Hours: 37.5 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per year + excellent benefits

What will you be responsible for?
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll be supporting the Shropshire commercial team in delivering a diverse range of projects, from capital maintenance schemes to emergency response activities.
Your day to day will include:
Assisting with pricing capital maintenance schemes including surfacing, drainage and structural repairs
Supporting cost management for winter maintenance, emergency response and street scene activities
Assessing valuations, calculating payments and monitoring subcontractor performance
Contributing to monthly Cost Value Reports and identifying opportunities for improvement
Collaborating with the commercial team on various duties as required
What are we looking for?
This Assistant Quantity Surveyor role could be a great fit if you:
Bring experience within construction, ideally in a commercial or quantity surveying environment
Are confident using Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with digital tools
Have strong numerical skills and a keen eye for detail, taking pride in producing accurate work
Are currently studying towards, or open to studying for, a commercial or quantity surveying degree
Enjoy working as part of a team, with a positive approach to problem-solving and collaboration
