A well-established construction and property consultancy in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join its growing team. The Assistant Project Manager will support the delivery of residential and commercial projects across Manchester and the wider North West, working with clients, consultants and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager who wants to build strong technical and client-facing experience within a supportive consultancy. The successful Assistant Project Manager will work closely with experienced Project Managers and senior colleagues, while the Assistant Project Manager takes on increasing responsibility across live commissions. The Assistant Project Manager will gain broad exposure to both residential and commercial developments, helping them progress towards Project Manager level.
You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.
The Assistant Project Manager's role
The Assistant Project Manager will support projects from early feasibility and design through procurement, construction and handover. Responsibilities will include preparing project documentation, updating programmes, monitoring actions and assisting with progress reports.
The Assistant Project Manager will attend project meetings, coordinate information between consultants and contractors, and help ensure projects remain aligned with agreed cost, quality and programme objectives. They will also support tender processes, consultant appointments, risk management and stakeholder communication.
Projects will include residential developments, commercial refurbishments, office schemes and mixed-use projects across Manchester. The role offers the Assistant Project Manager the opportunity to gain structured experience across multiple RIBA stages while developing greater project ownership.
The Assistant Project Manager
The successful Assistant Project Manager will have:
Previous experience within a UK construction consultancy
Experience supporting residential, commercial or mixed-use projects
A degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or a related discipline
Progress towards chartership with RICS, APM or CIOB
An understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work, procurement and construction contracts
Strong organisation, communication and report-writing skills
A professional and confident approach when dealing with clients
A clear desire to progress within project management
