Location: St Helens, Merseyside
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
The Opportunity
We are recruiting an experienced Assistant Production Manager to join an established, internationally recognised manufacturing business based in St Helens.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious manufacturing professional to support the Production Manager in overseeing manufacturing operations, driving performance and developing production teams.
You will take responsibility for production departments, improve operational efficiency, maintain quality standards and promote a positive health and safety culture. You will also deputise for the Production Manager when required.
Key Responsibilities

Support the Production Manager with day-to-day manufacturing operations.

Oversee production departments, ensuring schedules and targets are achieved.
*
Lead and develop Shift Controllers and Process Leaders.
*
Monitor production KPIs, efficiency and operational performance.
*
Drive continuous improvement and lead 5S activities.
*
Champion health, safety and environmental standards.
*
Ensure operators follow SOPs, risk assessments and company procedures.
*
Participate in accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
*
Support production reporting, MIS data and departmental budgeting.
*
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality and auditing.
*
Lead production-related customer complaint investigations.
*
Support TPM and World Class Manufacturing initiatives.
*
Manage employee performance, training and development.
Skills & Experience
*
Proven experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
*
Previous production leadership or management experience.
*
Strong people-management and team-development skills.
*
Knowledge of TPM, 5S and World Class Manufacturing.
*
Experience driving continuous improvement and operational change.
*
Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling and KPIs.
*
Excellent communication, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
*
Engineering, manufacturing or scientific qualification desirable but not essential.
